Modric threatens long prison sentence

It will be tight for Luka Modric. The midfielder of Real Madrid faces a long prison sentence. Reason is a suspected false statement of the Croat.
The Croatian football international Luka Modric has been charged in his homeland for alleged false statements. The report coincidentally several Croatian media. The star of Spain’s record champions Real Madrid is alleged to have made false statements in a court case in Osijek in connection with the corruption case against Croatian official Zdravko Mamic. Modric denies the allegations.
Modric faces imprisonment
The 32-year-old captain of World Cup contenders Croatia and Mamic are said to have teamed up in 2008 with Modric’s move from Dinamo Zagreb to Tottenham Hotspur. These are 2004 contracts between Modric and former Dinamo President Mamic. Modric is said to have become entangled in contradictions in his statements. The midfielder faces imprisonment between six months and five years.
In January 2018 Modric had agreed with the Spanish tax authorities on a tax arrears of nearly one million euros. He wanted to avoid a possible prison sentence after he had been suspected of having evaded nearly 900,000 euros in taxes in 2013 and 2014.
